Harmen Vanhoorne started his Musical Studies in the Music Academy of Izegem, from where he continued his Studies in the conservatory of Music Lemmens in Leuven. He obtained his degree with distinction for Trumpet from Mr. Léon Pétré and specializes now with Mr Leo Wouters.

Between 1998 and 2004 he took part in several tournaments, first with Fedekam and Flemish Music Association, and later under the banner of Vlamo. He became Laureate seven times.

Harmen took master classes from Mr. Macaluso, David Daws, Peter Roberts, David Thornton, John Doyle, Mr F. Cessarini, Mr. J. Lindemans, King David and Joseph Burgstaller.

As a freelance trumpet player, he regularly worked with many high-profiled orchestras including the Flemish Radio Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Low Countries, and the Brussels Symphony Orchestra. Since 2008 Harmen is member of the Royal Band of the Guides.
